Hafod joined forces with Aico at Arcon House to support residents with digital skills.

Arcon House in St Mellons, Cardiff, is undergoing significant work as part of Footprint, our decarbonisation programme.

With solar panels and new windows being installed, customers have also been given access to new technology.

At a coffee morning, Hafod colleagues and Aico joined Arcon House residents to support with digital skills to ensure they are getting the most out of the new Aico sensors and gateways.
Aico’s Environmental Sensors have been designed to create better-maintained, healthier, energy-efficient homes. The sensors have been placed throughout the homes and link with a gateway, to monitor carbon dioxide, temperature and humidity and provide actionable insights into indoor environmental conditions. The aim to is improve energy efficiency, monitoring damp and mould risk and identifying residents in danger of fuel poverty.

Sue James, Aico’s Relationship manager said, “This has been a great opportunity to talk to the residents about the sensors and gateways they have in their properties, we’ve encouraged them to download the resident’s app so they can see for themselves their own indoor air quality, temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide levels, to make sure their indoor environment is healthy for them.”

Danielle, Hafod’s Digital Adoption and Skills Lead was on hand to help residents, “Digital inclusion is essential for our residents and by helping them with access to the app, it will help them to reap the benefits of the sensors.”

Arcon House resident Dave joined us for the coffee morning and shared; “I like to keep my eye on these things so I’ll use the app to check. It will be good to see how the windows fitted next week will affect the quality of living and air temperatures within my house. It seems highly intuitive and easy to use.”
