Hafod stands against hate

In light of the recent riots and unrest across the UK, we would like to reassure you that as an organisation, we are committed to fostering safe and inclusive communities, regardless of background.

We appreciate many of you in our communities may be feeling vulnerable or distressed at this time and we would like to reassure you of our commitment to mutual respect for all of our residents and offer guidance during these difficult times. We have zero tolerance for hate and stand in solidarity with our Black, Asian and Ethnically diverse communities. Everyone has the right to feel safe, and we will do all that we can to ensure that our residents feel safe in their homes and our colleagues feel safe to be at work.

This coming weekend will see a number of large public events and gatherings. South Wales Police have issued assurance that they have a dedicated Public Order structure in place to ensure both public order and public safety for these events and the wider South Wales area. Neighbourhood Policing Teams remain vigilant for any protest activity and are being proactive in engaging with our vulnerable and minority communities, aiming to respond rapidly and effectively to any disorder and minimise its impact.

Support and guidance
If you are feeling anxious and unsafe please contact the Police or Victim Support. It’s important that any hate crimes or concerns are reported to South Wales Police or through Victim Support.

Community Safety Partnership teams are revisiting their network of key individuals offering advice, support and listening to concerns. We will work with them, and other partner organisations to act on any incidents related to our tenancies that arise from these events.

We encourage engagement with any Police officers you see on patrol and sharing of your concerns, information or intelligence. If you wish to contact them online please direct any relevant information or intelligence to Publicservicecentre@south-wales.pnn.police.uk

You can also speak to your local Neighbourhood coach or contact our Customer Services team on 0800 024 8968 or enquiries@hafod.org.uk.

Hate has no place in our communities, and together we will stand strong. In this worrying time, please be kind and let’s all look out for each other.
