As part of our commitment to creating positive social impact, we partner with our contractors to support community initiatives that support our strategic aims. This page outlines the process and expectations for fulfilling our social value commitments, ensuring a collaborative effort to maximise our collective contributions throughout the year.
Social covers a wide range of activities and Hafod asks its Contractors to understand and deliver the activities which creates the most value to our communities, these can include:
- Creating and maximising local opportunities
- Training and recruitment opportunities for the long term economically inactive (long term economically inactive means those not been in paid employment in the last 3 months)
- Volunteering days
- Donations to Hafods Social Value fund
- Landscaping/Building Services support to regenerate for communal areas
- Support for local youth groups and other community groups
- Sponsoring of mini sporting tournament or event
- Community newsletters advising on impact of service delivery
- Contributions to education such as work placements for secondary-school children and college students, landscaping/building services support to regenerate for school playgrounds
- Utilise local supply chains.

1. Promotion of Support:
- We will actively advertise your contributions and support for our social initiatives.
- Your company’s logo will be prominently featured in our promotional materials, event signage, and online platforms wherever possible, acknowledging your support.
2. Regular Updates:
- You will receive an update at your contract management meetings detailing the progress and outcomes of the initiatives you’ve supported.
- Where possible these updates will include specific stories and data showcasing the impact of your contributions on our communities.
3. Acknowledgement and Recognition:
- We will publicly recognise your support in our newsletters, social media channels, and during community events.
- Your contributions will be highlighted in our annual impact report, providing a comprehensive overview of the positive changes facilitated by your support.
1. Quarterly Contributions:
- You agree to provide contributions on a quarterly basis to support our social value initiatives. This consistent support is essential for planning and executing impactful programs.
- New contracts will be activated 60 days from the start date of your contract.
- Existing contracts will be activated three months from the date stated on their notification email.
- Suppliers who do not have a contract in place will be contacted to discuss their contributions
 
- The amount of your contributions will be discussed and agreed upon at the beginning of each quarter in line with your proposal at tender stage.
2. Engagement and Communication:
- We ask that you engage with our communications, providing feedback and any additional information needed to effectively highlight your support.
- Attendance at key events or promotional activities is encouraged to strengthen the partnership and demonstrate your commitment to the community.
1. Initial Consultation and Agreement:
- At the beginning of the partnership, an initial consultation will be held to define the scope and nature of the contributions, branding guidelines, and specific areas of focus for social value.
2. Review and Planning:
- Review meetings will take place as agreed in the contract to assess the impact of the contributions and plan for the upcoming quarter. This meeting ensures transparency and allows for adjustments to be made to maximise social impact.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
- All contributions and their impacts will be documented. This documentation will be shared with you in the form of updates at your contract management meetings and will also be used for public recognition efforts.
4. Feedback Loop:
- We encourage ongoing feedback to refine and enhance the partnership. Your insights are valuable in helping us achieve greater social value and ensuring that the partnership remains mutually beneficial.
