Tŷ Heulog

Tŷ Heulog is situated in the heart of Talbot Green and provides affordable independent living for people over 50. Opened in 2016, it has 40 self-contained apartments (16 one-bedroom and 24 two-bedroom) located across three floors.

Extra Care can be a viable alternative to sheltered accommodation or residential care by encouraging independent living and providing a home for life with care and support services that can increase or decrease as a tenant’s needs change. It is suitable for single people or couples, where one or both have need of more supportive accommodation.

All 40 apartments at Tŷ Heulog are fully accessible and can be adapted to support residents with physical disabilities. There are 16 one-bedroom apartments and 24 two-bedroom apartments which are located across three floors.

Each apartment offers:

  • A spacious living room
  • A modern fitted kitchen
  • A bathroom with a walk-in shower (with access from each bedroom and the apartment hallway)
  • Spacious main bedrooms in both one and two bed apartments

    In addition to shared lounge facilities, laundry, assisted bathrooms and a cycle/scooter store, we also have a restaurant, IT access and landscaped gardens. Based within the local community, Tŷ Heulog is within walking distance of the village of Talbot Green.

    The building has been sensitively designed to support tenants with early onset dementia to orientate themselves, using passive design which includes the use of a variety of identifiable textures, colours and lighting on each floor.

    Our colleagues

    Tŷ Heulog is run by a highly experienced team who are dedicated to providing person centred care for every tenant. Our Building Management team works hard to provide a welcoming environment for all our visitors.

    Tenants have support available 24 hours a day. Care is available 24/7 from the care provider on-site, and support can be provided as and when required.

    Colleague training is a high priority and we ensure that all our team have the skills, values and behaviours to deliver a professional and dedicated service to those in our care.

     

    Activities

    Our regular activities help our tenants stay active, make friends and try new things. Our current programme includes:

    • Exercise classes
    • Quizzes
    • Fashion and gift sales

    We have a great relationship with the local primary school who visit regularly to perform concerts and we welcome speakers from the community to talk about various topics. A hairdresser comes in every week and a podiatrist visits every six weeks.
